For the next two weeks, make it a point to connect with the people who signed up for your group. Reach out via email, text, phone call, note in the mail, social media, etc. (Here’s how to access their contact info on CCB and on the LEAD app.) Ask to meet up in the lobby before or after service to introduce yourself. Lay the ground work now for a culture of going the extra mile for the people in your group.
Because literally nothing is more frustrating than the people who sign up for a group, and never show up. But’s let’s try to see it from their perspective: They’ve just heard an exciting call to action, the emotional high of the service gave them the courage to sign up, but now it’s Tuesday, and a unique version of buyer’s remorse is beginning to sink in. “What was I thinking? I don’t know these people? Where is it again? I don’t actually need this…”
Reach out to them in the midst of their second guessing, and remind them that a safe, fun, caring leader is cheering for them, and excited to meet them come May.
